Patches is a very sweet little girl who loves nothing more than a good snuggle with you! She so deserves her own forever home! Patches hasn't had the easiest of lives to date. Patches came from a breeding/puppy mill situation. She is not yet housetrained and her future owners will need to be willling to work with her on this. We had her spayed and also had a dental done at the same time, where it was discovered that Patches either has a broken jaw or one that was never fused. Upon consulting with a couple of area vets, we found that the surgery to repair this involves routing some wiring through her face and removing it later. The surgeries are pretty intense and the healing period of 6-8 weeks is quite uncomfortable, and if her jaw was never fused in the first place, there is no guarantee that it would work. The vets report that because of this, some owners choose not to go ahead with the surgery if the dog is not appearing to be uncomfortable, so at this time, our rescue does not plan to go through with the surgery. Patches seems to eat ok, and seems to be healthy and active. Adoption fee is certainly negotiable if her adopting family wants to take her to a specialist for consult on her jaw.
