Meet Sugar! This sweetie came to us a few months ago as a local stray and after never being reclaimed, she has had her vet work all brought up-to-date. Upon her arrival at Safe Haven, it was evident that she was not feeling the greatest as several Safe Haven staff and volunteers were reporting continual diarrhea and vomiting in her kennel. When our veterinarian was able to examine Sugar, she knew something was not right - after further testing thru an ultrasound, it appeared that Sugar's intestines were not looking the way they should. After a several hour long "exploratory surgery", our veterinarian was able to come to the conclusion that Sugar had some serious infection going on along with previous infectious material within her intestines and her very enlarged spleen was not keeping up with fighting off present infection. After overcoming a very intrusive surgery, Sugar was started on a very strict and special diet along with several medications to help her continue to fight off any infection that was still present internally. After receiving 24/7 around the clock care - Sugar may have gotten a little spoiled with all the attention from many Safe Haven volunteers... she learned to love attention & affection very quickly! :) More about SugarIs Not Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats
