Remembering Our Beloved Pets:

For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.

No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.

- Excerpt from the "Rainbow Bridge" (inspired by a Norse Legend)

Although you are gone, you shall not be forgotten...

Josie
Josie was an active hunting dog for many years but as she aged hunting became secondhand. And her family couldn't provide for her what she needed - freedom to run and play and freedom from a chain. One of our fosters took her under their wings and they saw Josie go from a chain dog to a free dog! She built her musles up and her confidence and for several months she was a free dog enjoying life with her new pack. Josie's health began to fail and her mind even faster. It was time for her family to let her go. Josie is just one of many dogs that are given that second chance to be a part of a family and in freedom at the end years often months in their lives. She left this world knowing freedom and love and that's exactly how it should be. God Bless you sweet Josie. See you on the other side someday. Your foster mom and dad will miss you very much...You were loved

Frisky
This is a sad day. Our cat Frisky of 13 years died today, December 11, 2009. He had started to fail around Thanksgiving, and then during the Blizzard he stopped eating and drinking, so I knew it was time to end his suffering. He was the best cat ever and will be truly missed. Frisky came to us when a friend of my mom's needed to find a new home for him. At that time we decided that Frisky would be our shop cat. So for the next several years he would greet my employees every morning and entertain us all at break time. Pets so enrich our lives, and we have been so blessed to have had Frisky all these years. We will always treasure our memories with him.

Buster
Buster was good old guy, who had even outlived his master. He came to Safe Haven at 15 years old, needing a new retirement home. We fostered him,and then quickly adopted him. His body may have slowed down, but his heart never did. He was a great dog, who just wanted a place to sleep. I wonder if he came to our house, just to teach me how special pets are, and to point out short a dogs life really is. I know he taught me to really appreciate each and every day with our pets!

Reiki
Reiki was found at the local school in Victor and brought to Safe Haven in February of 2009. He was a very calm, loving, and laid back cat that enjoyed just hanging out in the office area. He loved attention by whoever would offer some, yet never demanding, just patiently waiting his turn. Reiki passed away in October of 2009 due to renal failure. He was not alone during his journey to Rainbow Bridge as he passed away in loving arms. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Gizmo
Gizmo arrived at Safe Haven in July of 2009 at 2 months old. For his first few months at Safe Haven he was a playful, happy, and loving kitten. Then his health started failing and many test were done to find the cause. He passed away on October 12, 2009 and will be missed by all that knew him. He is resting peacefully at Rainbow Bridge.
