Remembering Our Beloved Pets:

For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.

No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.

- Excerpt from the "Rainbow Bridge" (inspired by a Norse Legend)

Although you are gone, you shall not be forgotten...

Zeke
Sweet Zeke came to us with a respiratory issue that remained unsolved. Perhaps because of that he did not exercise much and eventually weighed 18 pounds. Efforts to help him lose weight in the hope of helping the respiratory issue had not paid off yet when he pulled a ligament in his right back leg, which resulted in a dislocated knee-cap which was tender to the touch. Then for some mysterious reason that our vet was unable to identify, even with xrays, he strained as if though giving birth when it looked like he was wanting to poop (to the point of exhaustion). He seemingly lost any will to live and was nearly unresponsive when the hard decision to help him cross the Rainbow Bridge was made. Rest in peace, sweet Zeke. We wanted so badly to help you have a comfortable life and are so sorry we failed.

Pugsy
Pugsy was a strong little pug that was in the pound and rescued by Safe Haven. He immediately went to a loving foster family in January of 2010. Pugsy was not with the foster family very long before passing away in the loving arms of his foster mom on March 16, 2010. He was diagnosed with a seizure disorder that probably had been with him for most of his life. Pugsy fought with all his heart, but each seizure became more difficult for him to continue on. Pugsy loved to sit in your lap while being petted and talked too. He had 8 foster brothers and sisters that loved him and helped with his care after each seizure. Pugsy will be greatly missed by his foster family but will never be forgotten. He gave a good fight to the end but is now resting peacefully at Rainbow Bridge.

Slingshot (Barkley)
Slingshot arrived at Safe Haven in early 2009 and was not with us long before adopted. His new family met Slingshot in the July 4th parade and he was given a new home and name, Barkley. Slingshot (Barkley) passed away on Feb. 26, 2010. For the past few weeks he was not himself. After numerous tests it was found his lungs were full of tumors which had spread from his prostate. It became time to let Barkley go. He will always be loved and missed tremendously but our memories of the wonderful and loving dog he was will continue on. Barkley is resting peacefully at Rainbow Bridge.

Barkley
To the love of my life, my soul mate, and my friend....I will NEVER forget what you taught me about unconditional love. I will miss seeing you swim, giving me your paw, begging for treats, and loving your little buddy Tucker. We fought the good fight for 9 months and we made a great team! You are sorely missed and not a day goes by that I don't think of you. I will some day meet you on the other side... All my love, your mom Rinthea

Rose
Rose with with us for a year before she passed away. She was exeriencing shelter fatigue but because of her inability to like cats or dogs she couldn't be placed in a foster home. We lost Rose on Feb 6th, 2010 after a courageous fight for her life....
