Remembering Our Beloved Pets:

For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.

No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.

- Excerpt from the "Rainbow Bridge" (inspired by a Norse Legend)

Although you are gone, you shall not be forgotten...

Bandit
Bandit was rescued from the pound as an intact male who was very thin and unstable. He spent 6 weeks with us. He was euthanized on July 5th, 2008. He will never be forgotten.

Hope
Hope was found by one of our volunteers on the side of the road. She was at least 30 pounds under weight - you could see every bone in her body. We rushed her to Bright Eye's Emergency Vet hospital to find out she had been hit by a car and left for dead on the side of the road. We did everything we could to try and save her but due to her starvation and dehydration she was not strong enough to make it through the life saving surgery. We gave her a name and a place on our rainbow bridge even though we only knew her for a few hours. The rocks seen in her stomach was heart wrenching. To know she was so hungry and noone fed her or had the decency to call someone to help her. She was found along the main highway in Oxford and dozens of people just drove by her. She didn't end life without some compassion and unconditional love however, no animal should live out their last moments without both. To the people who starved her, hit her with a car and drove by without helping her - SHAME ON YOU.

Sasha
Sasha was 6 weeks old when she was rescued. Her mother had been shot and she was fighting for her life in freezing temperatures. Hypothermic, dehydrated, and filled with parasties this little girl fought with all of her might for 3 days. She was in a foster home that cared for her round the clock but she wasn't strong enough. For 3 days she knew love, warmth, and compassion. To Valerie who took her and her living brother Lil Bear under her wing - we are all eternally grateful.

Crescendo
Crescendo was the daughter of Carmilla who gave birth to 6 kittens on Sept 29, 2007. Since then two of her kittens have passed away. The first, Callisto, was at birth and the second was at only 5 weeks of age. The Vet couldn't determine why she had become so weak so quickly. She passed away in our loving arms at the emergecny vet clinic. She loved sitting on her foster families shoulder and would nestle in for a good warm nap. She was also nicknamed squeeky because of her meow. Her foster family and those who knew her will miss her dearly. She is now with her brother over the rainbow bridge. We are missing you Crescendo!

Hera
Hera was rescued at only a few months old with her sister Pandora as strays. She had a wonderful life with the best of the best until she turned 2 1/2 years old and died from Feline Leukemia. Her life was blessed and she was truly loved. To lose her at such a young age was devestating but she taught her family how to live, love and laugh. For that they will be forever grateful. Hera now resides at the Safe Haven Memorial Garden where she will watch over us from the Rainbow Bridge.
