Ruckus  is a young black lab / terrier mix with a white spot on his neck/chest that looks like a heart. He seems pretty young, and the veterinarian guess him at 1&1/2 years old.  He came to us through the pound when he was found on Route 21 north of Interstate 80. In spite of a dozen posters picturing him and announcing he had been found in the general area where he was found, we have not received any inquiries from his owners. He has now been neutered, micro-chipped, vaccinated and is ready for adoption! Ruckus seems to want to learn and please you, but he needs someone to teach him how to be that great dog we know he wants to be.  He loves to play with tennis balls and chew on his bone with a little peanut butter smeared on to it!  Ruckus has a very full long life ahead of him, so if you are looking for a young, active companion, then look no further!

Update 4/1/16 - Ruckus likely hasn't had much experience meeting new dogs, and the shelter setting is not the easist place to successfully meet other dogs.  Last week we did have some success with Ruckus playing with one of our super easy going/friendly dogs (Cora) - they played for hours together and both were exhausted by the end......and we know tired dogs are HAPPY dogs :)  Seeing Ruckus play with Cora, gives us hope that outside of the shelter, he'd continue to welcome other dog playmates in time.

Update 4/10/2016 - Ruckus has been lucky enough to land himself into a wonderful foster home to help him get a bit more 1:1 attention and learn how to be a good companion pet.  Ruckus has loved playing with Riley, his new canine foster sister - and she has been great at teaching him some proper doggie manners.  This foster home has been exactly what Ruckus needs as he was getting tired of shelter life. He has met several other dogs and is really doing well, and has really shown his goofball side!
