Hobbes is one of 7 puppies that just came in to Safe Haven and he and his littermates have stolen everyone's hearts!  They are 9 weeks old, and will be wormed, vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed/neutered by the time of adoption.  We are waiting to hear what the vet thinks will be a safe adoption date - but we are hoping they are recoverd from their spay/neuter and ready for adoption by Saturday, December 19th.

We were able to meet both parents of this litter and they are super friendly!  There is a picture of the parents posted below for your reference.   The mom of this litter is a Border Collie / Terrier mix and she is Brindle and white colored and weighs around 25 pounds.  The dad of the litter is a black and white Corgi - very cute couple...but this will be their last litter as the family that asked us to take the puppies will be getting them both fixed through Safe Haven's grant to help spay and neuter community pets.  EDITED TO ADD - PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH ON THE BREEDS INVOLVED WITH THIS MIX - THESE WILL VERY LIKELY BE VERY ACTIVE DOGS WHO ARE GOING TO NEED REGULAR PHYSICAL AND MENTAL EXERCISE IN ORDER TO BECOME GOOD CANINE CITIZENS!!! Think obedience classes, flyball, agility, etc!!!

Hobbes is a very unique puppy in this litter - the only brown and white one in the bunch!  He seems to be built more like his Dad (Corgi) right now, but who knows what his future holds!  We do know he is incredibly special also because he is the only puppy with light colored eyes - he is just a great little puppy all the way around!  He loves playing with his siblings, and seems like a well mannered little fella.

Please consider the time involved in raising a puppy before applying to adopt (as well as the note regarding this breed mix above) - puppies are a lot of work and while they are fully vetted at the time of adoption, they will require extra vet visits during the first year of their lives (for booster vaccines and worming, etc) that you will be responsible for.  Puppies also will need a home that can be patient when housetraining, and realize that puppies just can't be expected to "hold it" for 8 hours a day while their owners are at work, etc.  So please be prepared to be able to work on this housetraining need, and not expect the puppy to have to be alone for extended periods of time during the first few months of their lives with you.  Housetraing and obedience training will require time and patience, and we feel this will be key to having every adoption  be a successful one :)
