We were able to meet both parents of this litter and they are super friendly! A picture of the parents is posted for your reference. The mom of this litter is a Border Collie / Terrier mix and she is Brindle and white colored and weighs around 25 pounds. While small and friendly, she is also feisty and high energy, which is all in keeping with her breed mix. The dad of the litter is a black and white Corgi, also a friendly, active little guy. While they make for a very cute couple...this will be their last litter as the family that asked us to take the puppies will be getting them fixed through Safe Haven's grant to help spay and neuter community pets. Bernie looks a lot like his mom right now, definitely more lean and lanky than his dad, and may have more of a terrier personality as well. He is sweet, fun, and lively, and loves to play and chew on his toys!
Please consider the time involved in raising a puppy before applying to adopt - puppies are a lot of work and while they are spayed/neutered and update to date with vaccinations at the time of adoption, they will require extra vet visits during the first year of their lives (for booster vaccines and worming, etc) that you will be responsible for. Puppies also will need a home that can be patient when housetraining, and realize that puppies just can't be expected to "hold it" for 8 hours a day while their owners are at work, etc. So please be prepared to be able to work on this housetraining need, and not expect the puppy to have to be alone for extended periods of time during the first few months of their lives with you. Housetraing and obedience training will require time and patience, and we feel this will be key to having every adoption be a successful one :)
