Safe Haven of Iowa County

Hardy is an energic, fun little puppy who for some reason found himself lost and wandering.  He is super friendly and loves everyone he meets.  Unfortunately Hardy did have a very traumatic accident at the end of November, and suffered a broken front leg.  We feared that he would likely have to have the leg amputated, but he was treated by wonderful staff at the Eastern Iowa Vet Speicialty Clenter in Cedar Rapids and has made great progess - his leg was set in a cast, and the vet is pleased with the healing.  As of December 29th, Hardy is now cast free and will need to be on very restricted activity level, which includes kennel rest for 2 more weeks, just to make sure he finishes healing.  They do think he will likely have a noticeable different gait to his walk however, and will likely develop arthritis in that leg sooner than he normally would.  So a very special caring and loving family would be perfect for Hardy  - one that can help him continue to mature into the great companion pet we know he can be, and also be prepared for any possible issues that may arise down the road with his mobility.
