Safe Haven of Iowa County

Andy is a wonderful young dog that was found wandering around the country side near Millersburg after the July 4th holiday.  He seems to have had a great life so far, and we can't understand why a family hasn't been looking for him!  Since coming to us, he has had the opportunity to spend time in a foster home and this little guy is a real sweetheart. He is well socialized and just loves everyone he meets.  He did want to chase the cats in his foster home at first, but he is learning that is not acceptable and he respects that. He loves playing with other dogs, big, small, young, and old. When playing with other dogs he has never gotten aggressive, even if other dogs have taken issue with his playfulness and told him off (Andy doesn't seem to get the cues from other dogs that it's time to stop playing, but he will listen to humans who tell him to stop). He has even tolerated a pet rat riding his back! Andy knows some basic commands, is crate trained, (but not 100% housetrained yet), loves car rides, and is a wonderful medium sized dog weighing in at 40 pounds. He looks like he may have a little "pitty" in his face, but not for sure what all he is mixed with, however we think he is just perfect!  He has a great personality and loves to play.  If you are looking for a loyal companion to stay active with, come meet Andy and be prepared for your heart to melt!
