Other Pictures of Abbie (click to see larger version):Abbie came into Safe Haven in the summer of 2013, and was quickly adopted. As her family got to know Abbie, they quickly fell in love with her! It didn't take them long to learn that Abbie has a mischievous side as well.....unfortunately if Abbie is bored she will frequently search out a wide variety of things to get into, rip up, chew up, or even eat. Abbie has been known to eat crayons, and a variety of other school supplies, boxes of macaroni, chair cushions, down spouts, etc. Her mischief has seemed to be getting worse lately, and her family just felt like they cannot provide the best home for her any longer, as they didn't want her to have to be kenneled all day, every day. They brought her back to Safe Haven and hope we can find her a home where she will not have to spend so much time alone, or in a kennel. Here is what her family says about Abbie..... Abbie is a cream Labradoodle aka LOVE BUG! She is a wonderful dog for the right family. Abbie has gotten along with all dogs once properly introduced. She will bark and act fierce until they are on her side of the fence. She has never bothered cats but does tend to like to tree squirrels :) She loves to sleep with her family on their bed, and doesn't even mind being the pillow!
Abbie has NEVER shown any aggression towards any subject (other animals, men, women, children etc...) or any food aggression. She will let other dogs eat from her bowl with her. She tolerates grooming (although she plops down while working with her) but she does tolerate it. Abbie has never had any medical issues.
She does need the RIGHT family.... she would do best with a family with kids, however would need to be in a home where she is with someone pretty much most if not all the time.
She could perhaps become a great therapy dog and would thrive by providing 100% companionship. She needs a fenced in yard or a dog park where she can get out and run. and run and run! Abbie does need supervision pretty much all the time, so she doesn't have to be kenneled all day, every day. She does seem to get anxious / bored, and then she can get into some trouble if not monitored. Interested in adopting this pet? Please click the adoption info link for more information.
