If you are looking for a sweet commited companion - take a look at Nigel!  He came to us severely dehydrated, malnourished, and balding - but is now the picture of health, in great weight, with a lush, beautiful coat, and oh so ready for his family to come along as he has been waiting for a long time! July will marked his one year anniversary with us. We can't really decide what breeds Nigel may have in him, our guesses are lab with possibly shepherd, Collie, Greyhound, or other sighthound mix thrown in. He is tall and lanky with a long nose.
Nigel is super friendly and we have no idea how he ended up wandering through the countryside, but so happy that a Safe Haven volunteer saw him and rescued him!  His hungry days are over and he will never be covered in fleas and ticks ever again!!  He enjoys car rides, does fine with baths, keeps his kennel clean, and though his exposure to kitties is limited, he hasn't shown interest/aggression towards them.  He has done well with other dogs at adoption events and at the shelter has a best friend, Molly, that he does wonderfully with. He does show some irritation with other male dogs or strange dogs at the shelter, but given his calm temperament outside of the shelter, we believe Nigel would get along with just about anyone. He would prefer a home with a bit older children (probably 7 and up) that are considerate of allowing a dog space.
