Description:
Have you seen the movie “Up”? Arlo reminds everyone he meets of Doug, the talking dog from “Up”. This gentle giant is perfect for an energetic couple or family. He’s a gorgeous, healthy dog who loves people and wants nothing more than to please his master. Arlo is fully housebroken and roams his foster home freely during the day with no accidents and no problems of chewing or destroying furniture. (We’re still working on staying off the couch, staying out of the trash, and not drinking from the toilet.) He is a highly intelligent dog and a fast learner. In just three weeks he’s progressed from only knowing the “sit” command, to knowing “sit and stay”, “crate”, “come”, “fetch”, “backseat” of the car, “down”, and his favorite commands which are 'walk', 'park', and 'dinner'. He’s also working on “drop”, “leave it”, “give” and “go to your bed”. He’s always eager to join you for a walk or a run at the park. The Chesapeake Bay Retriever characteristics are very apparent in Arlo, and he’s definitely stronger, more energetic, and a bit more stubborn and serious than a lab. He wants to work, and he longs to be by his master’s side at all times. Arlo loves water and never passes by a creek, pond or swimming pool he doesn’t want to explore. He currently goes to the dog park and is around numerous other dogs daily. He gets along with 99% of them, but he must be in charge. Arlo is not a passive dog, and he will try to dominate other dogs who challenge or mount him. While there are no kids in his foster home, he’s been exposed to kids with his foster family and appears to respect children of all ages. Arlo is a fast and powerful dog who would be happiest with a fenced-in yard where he can freely chase squirrels.
