Update 6/17/24: Dutch (was Gus Gus previously) has been returned by his adopter. After several months of working on house training and socialization in the home setting, his adopter decided it wasn't a great fit and that he would probably thrive best in a home experienced with the Chihuahua breed (or alike breeds). Someone who is home often would be great for Dutch as he continues to learn a bathroom routine, leash training, and to continue his socialization skills. This little fella can be easily frightened by loud noises and new/unfamiliar environments. Allowing the proper introductions to take place along with patience and persistence will be important for him as he continues to flourish into the young adult dog he is going to be. Once he's comfortable, he is a very active little guy who loves to be with his person(s). He enjoys getting outside for walks and enjoys a lap to sit on afterwards.

This cute little fella is Gus Gus, and he came to us with his mother "Lucy". They were surrendered to our care as their previous owner was in the process of moving and couldn't take these little ones along. Lucy, the mother, is a Chihuahua mix & the father looked to be a Chihuahua / Jack Russell Terrier mix that is also pictured on Gus Gus's profile images for reference. Gus Gus is the cutest little guy - following in his mother's footsteps of being a perfect little alert system (aka barking when noises are heard!) :)

His ideal family will be committed to taking a puppy obedience class right away to get started on the right foot - he will need a family that can commit to continue proper socialization and also all the work that goes into house-training a puppy, which requires a lot of patience and persistence with working on a schedule and routine. Puppies need to be taken outside frequently - as often as every four hours in the beginning. So an ideal home for him will be one where he won't have long periods of time during the day spent alone, so he can have the best chance of successful housetraining and have years of wonderful love and devotion to focus on!
