Description:

Thalia and her five adorable littermates came to Safe Haven after a local family reached out asking for help with an accidental litter. The puppies are 10 weeks old, and their mother is an adorable much loved Basset Hound/Fox Terrier mix, and the family thinks the father may have been a neighbor's Lab.  They can't be for sure what their exact mix is, but it is an undeniable adorable mix and their temperment is quite lovely too!  These puppies spent the first 9 weeks of their lives being loved and spoiled by their family, and it really shows.  Not only are they very healthy puppies, they even have cute roly poly fat bellies.  Several of the puppies also have the typical short Basset legs, and longer floppy Basset ears!  The family has spayed their mother since the puppies are now weaned, so there will not be any more accidental puppies!

To begin their puppy training as soon as possible and get these puppies settled into a home faster, a spay/neuter contract will be signed at the time of adoption. The contract will be signed stating the puppy must be spayed by a given date, either by scheduling an appointment to bring the puppy back to Safe Haven for the spay or by utilizing the adopter's primary vet clinic and sending documentation proof of spay to us at Safe Haven. The adoption fee will be the same ($250) which ever way the adopter chooses to have the surgery completed. All of these puppies are up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, de-wormed, microchipped, and are on track for a long healthy life with their forever families.

Their ideal family will be committed to taking a puppy obedience class right away to get started on the right foot - they will need a family that can commit to continue proper socialization and also all the work that goes into house-training a puppy, which requires a lot of patience and persistence with working on a schedule. Puppies need to be taken outside frequently - as often as every 4 hours in the beginning. So an ideal home for these puppies will be one where they won't have long periods of time during the day spent alone, so they can have the best chance of successful housetraining and have years of wonderful love and devotion to focus on!

If you are interested in adopting Thalia or one of her littermates please fill out an adoption application as the first step of the adoption process. Once the application has been approved, a volunteer will be in contact to set up a meeting/adoption time.
