Safe Haven of Iowa County

Charley was surrendered with his sister Evie because they were killing the family chickens.  He is very friendly and LOVES people. He especially enjoys working one on one with a person and the attention (and new skills) that gives him.   When he came to us he was a puller on the leash but we've been working with him in a gentle leader.  He has made great progress because of his desire to please and being highly motivated for learning new things .....and then receiving the reward of a training tidbit.  

Charley's original family loved these dogs so much, and just feel like Charley and Evie may do best finding 2 separate homes because they don't seem to be bonded and both seek a lot of love and attention.   So we have adopted Evie out to a home where she is doing very well. Their family also thought they would be most comfortable in a home without little kiddos, as infants and toddlers seem to make them uncomfortable.  They have spent the majority of their lives on tie outs and in large indoor kennels, so they may need some patience while they adjust to indoor living roaming loose. However they are smart, gorgeous, and eager to please--what's not to love? Contact us to come meet Charley!
