Tessa is such a special dog to many of us here at Safe Haven - she is one of the 57 "terrier mix" dogs removed from a farm near Marengo back in February. Tessa is one of the few dogs that seemed fairly well socialized right from the start, and loved all the TLC we showered on her when she arrived.....unlike most of the other dogs that were so fearful.
Tessa is now spayed, and is blossoming into a great dog at her foster home. The vet estimates her to be around 5 years old, and even though her eyes look like she may have some vision loss already, she gets around just fine and her eyes do not appear to be bothersome to her. Tessa gets along fine with cats and other dogs, and while walks aren't really her favorite thing to do - she does love to run around her fenced in yard and check everything out!
Tessa seems to be pretty well house trained, and doesn't even need to be kenneled if left home alone.....she can mostly be found taking a nap on the couch! Since she spent much of her life confined to a small area with little exposure to many people or life experiences - she may take a bit longer to warm up to new sights, sounds, and situations. We think she certainly has only brighter days ahead, and are so happy to help her find her forever family.
