Check out this cutie! His name is Blu and his owner was given Blu just a couple months ago and had no idea all that went into trying to raise a puppy - but quickly realized Blu needed more time, exercise and training than he could handle, so he asked Safe Haven for help. Blu is a great looking dog - we just love those expressive eyes and ears, and we just know there is a perfect home out there for him!
We don't know much about Blu yet because he just came in to Safe Haven on Tuesday, August 25th and was neutered on Wednesday, the 26th. What we do know already is Blu currently has a very high energy level, very typical of a Border Collie puppy that has had no training up to this point....so he loves to jump up on everyone he meets just to let them know how excited he is to meet new friends. So anyone thinking about adding this fella to their home needs to do a little research on properly raising/training this type of high-energy pup and be willing to dedicate time and effort with taking dog obedience classes. Dogs like Blue ( in the Herding Group) typically need lots of exercise - both physical and mental - to keep them happy and help them grow into a nice family companion.
His previous owner did say Blu loves kids - although we would think he would be too much for younger kids as he will likely knock them over with all his exuberance. He has not been around other dogs or cats, so we are not sure how he is with other pets yet - but once he is recovered from surgery we will see how he does and update his info. His owner mentioned Blu's favorite treat is a rawhide chew - and his favorite pastime is running and jumping, and that he would sure love for his next family to have a fenced in yard to play in safely.
