Other Pictures of Bagheera (click to see larger version):Bagheera is estimated to be almost a year old - estimated birthdate is 8/1/2019. Found as a stray wandering down a rural highway, this super friendly kitty was picked up by a loving woman that just couldn't drive by and leave him to an uncertain fate.
Bagheera does have a few unique characteristics that make him a pretty special kitty, and we are so glad he made it to Safe Haven for us to spoil and love! The most notable concern was a bony protrusion or bump, under the skin on his rib cage - in the middle of his belly. At his first vet appointment, it was determined that this bone is the tip of his sternum (a small bone called the xyphoid process) that is rotated outward. It is likely that Bagheera was born with this and the vet found that it doesn't cause him any pain, and isnt likely to cause any issues as he matures - it just makes him all the more special!
Another special feature noted by the vet is that Bagheera'a eyes seem to be slightly closer together and nearly cross-eyed, causing his cute little face to appear petite in size. This feature is sometimes accompanied by notable neurological changes, and the vet did notice he walks flat-footed instead of on his toes, which makes his cute little paws look larger than they are.
The vet feels these features are likely all things Bagheera was born with, and nothing that currently requires any additional therapy and there is no reason for any long term health concerns. He is a very happy, loving kitty whose special qualities make him quite endearing to all who meet him!
