Safe Haven of Iowa County

Shelby came in to Safe Haven as a stray dog in the Iowa County Pound.  We were contacted by someone that knows Shelby's original owner, and we were told they no longer wished to care for Shelby.  So she became a Safe Haven dog, and is now spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, heartworm tested negative, and given monthly preventative for flea/tick and heartworm.  Shelby also had a spa day where she got a much needed bath and nail trim.  During her spay surgery, many different procedures were done - the vet also did a dental cleaning, and removed a lump on her belly, up inside her rear hip/leg area.  This lump ended up just being a lymph node with other tissue wrapped around it, luckily nothing to worry about.  While Shelby was under anesthesia the vet also removed a small tumor from her left eyelid, so her new family will need to watch this area to make sure the tumor doesn't grow back.    

After healing up from her surgery, Shelby will be ready to join her new family.  She is a great dog, that enjoys her walks, is pretty playful and also loves a good roll in the grass!  She seems to get along well with other dogs, but until she is fully recovered from her surgery she is restricted from playing with other dogs, so we will know more about her once she is healed from her big surgery.
