Description:

Nico originally came in to Safe Haven back in 2019 with his two littermates, Jax and Saia. They are a mix of Lab and German Shepherd and unfortunately were just living outside in a kennel all day at their first home. The owners noticed that the dogs just wanted to be inside and actually be part of a family, and they felt they could not provide the time and home they deserved. The dogs also had killed a neighbor's cat, so they felt the dogs needed a home without other small pets - so they asked Safe Haven to take in Nico and his siblings.

When Nico arrived we also noticed he was limping on a rear leg, and after a few vet appointments it was determined Nico had torn a ligament in his "knee" and he was a great candidate for surgery to repair the ligament. After a couple months of rehab Nico was ready for adoption and found a great home in the summer of 2019.  This family loved Nico and gave him a good home, ensuring that he stayed a healthy weight to keep his "new knee" in good shape.

Sadly Nico's family recently contacted us and needed to bring Nico back in November of 2023 because they are moving out of the country and are not able to take him along. So Nico is back, looking for his second chance at a forever home.

At 8 years old he is at the perfect age and stage of life. His family said he is calm, loves attention, enjoys going on walks, butt rubs, and he especially loves kids. His family really hopes another family with kids will welcome this great pup into their family. Nico is perfectly housebroken, and loves to relax in his kennel that will come with him......it is his very own little "man cave" and his mom even has curtains sewn for it to make it all nice and cozy for him! Nico also comes well stocked with a nice variety of outfits and accessories from his adoptive family!

He hasn't been living with other pets, but his family said he seemed fine when meeting other dogs. They just couldn't say enough good things about him!
