Taffy came to Safe Haven after PAWS & More Animal Shelter in Washington Iowa reached out to other local animal shelters because they were helping to remove 14 dogs from a home where the dogs were needing help. Safe Haven took in Taffy and her buddy "Rudy".
The dogs were all believed to be a mix of the purebred Weimaraner male dog and a variety of Pit Bull Terrier mix females at the property. Taffy does have a lot more of the smaller, refined look and has the Weimaraner thin/lanky legs :) She is a sweet heart and loves attention - and a great belly rub! She will need lots of continued socialization, as she is a bit shy at first and needs to build up confidence - but has already came out of her shell a bit during her first week at Safe Haven. The vet estimates Taffy to be between one and two years old. We haven't evaluated her around small kids or cats yet - but she sure loves all the different volunteers she has met so far!
Taffy and her buddy Rudy are spent after spending the day greeting RAGBRAI riders at the Safe Haven stop on Thursday. They were awesome ambassadors for our shelter! (See second picture.)
