Safe Haven of Iowa County

Chase came to Safe Haven after being rescued from a 'high-kill shelter' in Texas where there remains an extreme population of stray dogs resulting from the hurricanes and the upheaval of households at that time.   Chase was lucky enough to make it out of Texas via a volunteer group of pilots called Pilots-n-Paws, who spend their weekends and own money to relay dogs to other shelters all over the U. S. that have room to take these lucky pups in.

Chase was lucky enough to stay in a loving foster home in Texas before flying up to Iowa - and his foster mom says Chase is very loving and playful - enjoys playing with other dogs and also lived with a cat.  Chase received 2 rounds of puppy shots, and his Rabies vaccine before coming to Iowa, and he is now microchipped and will soon be neutered and ready for adoption! He currently weighs 23 pounds and the vet thinks he is possibly a terrier/border collie mix....whatever the mix is, we just think he is super cute and we are so happy he made it safely to Iowa!
