This unusual looking but very handsome boy has so much to offer his future family! Otto came in as a stray to our shelter, but he did get to spend about a week in a temporary foster home while the shelter had some construction. There, we learned a lot of information about Otto.
Otto seems to like most other friendly dogs that he meets, though he's still not sure what to think of the smaller sized ones. He does ok with larger cats that don't run from him, but he might be a little too interested in kittens. That said, he was not aggressive with them, and with strict supervision and continued training, he may be able to fit into a family that has felines. We think he may do ok around children as he doesn't seem to mind being touched all over his body, or sharing his food, toys, etc. Otto knows "sit" very well, and shows promise with "lie down", "shake", and "touch". He walks pretty well on a leash - doesn't do a lot of pulling but does do some zigzagging! Otto loves toys - but interestingly, he doesn't really play with them, or fetch them. He just likes to go to the toy bin, grab a toy, take it somewhere. . .and repeat:). He also loves nylabones and other things to chew on (including slippers). He loves snow. He seems to have a pretty good recall off leash.  He has times of being very relaxed but he also still seems to have a lot of puppy energy and mischief in him at other times.
Otto is not yet fully housetrained. He should be kept on a regular schedule with frequent potty breaks so that he doesn't have accidents in the house, and then he does well. He does seem to be kennel trained at this point.
Graceful is not his middle name. . .he apparently fell off the bed, stairs, and slipped on the floors a few times while in foster (the word "Puppy" comes to mind again!).
Otto is a little apprehensive about car rides, but this, too, showed improvement. He just needs more positive experience in this area.
