Heidi came into our local pound with another Safe Haven dog - Schatzi - and they were both in foster care together until Schatzi was adopted on 3/27/2011.  Heidi is doing so well in her foster home.  She loves everyone she meets - especially anyone that will play fetch with her!

Heidi has been taught to sit, shake, walk well on a leash, and obviously just loves to  be  around people. Some family somewhere is certainly missing this great dog.  Heidi really enjoys our walks through the country side, but she also does great off leash just running around our pasture.

Heidi is a happy dog that loves to play and roll around in the grass.  Another one of her favorite things to do is go for a ride!  Don't open your car door until you are ready for her to get in, because she leaps right in before you can blink!  She also seems to enjoy water because she loved her bath!  The vet said Heidi is probably 1 to 2 years old and seems to be a Golden Retriever crossed with a Chesapeake Bay Retriever since her coat does tend to be curly in several places.  If you are looking for a new best friend, look no further...come meet Heidi!

*update 3/20/11* I took Heidi to an adoption event at PETCO and she loved all the people attention but was pretty unsettled in the store.  To my surprise, she did growl at a couple dogs there, however I think most of this is just due to her young age and a lack of socialization.  We will continue to work on this with Heidi while she is in foster, but if you are interested in Heidi and have another dog we would really need to make sure it was a perfect fit.  She loved my other foster dog Schatzi, but she may not get along well with some other dogs.
