Safe Haven of Iowa County

Molly is a highly energetic young dog who is eager to learn and play, and has become a favorite dog of several volunteers.  She came to us from a Texas shelter that was needing to move some dogs out because of their high-kill rate (to make room for others).   Her foster from Texas said she had gotten along with a few other dogs and children, but since arriving at Safe Haven, we have actually not been able to find any dog friends that she gets along with.  Molly has a very dominant personality with other dogs, so this makes living in a shelter setting pretty stressful for Molly.

Unfortunately we have tried to introduce Molly to several other dogs during her time at Safe Haven, and have even taken her on a few day trips to meet other dogs - and so far Molly has not been able to get along with any other dogs, so we feel she will do best as an only dog in her forever home.  Her foster in Texas also told us that she really is much too interested in 'playing' with chickens and she would suggest her not going to a home where there are chickens.  This behavior also transfers over to cats unfortunately - and Molly will need a home with no cats. So if you have a home without any other pets, you may just have the perfect home for our Molly! 

After watching her in action when she was left to wander about in the room with us during a meeting or two, I have to think she has a wicked sense of humor and such a silly-dog streak in her personality. More than once she stole items individuals had laying by their chairs and would strut around with the item waiting for us to realize what she had done!  Molly would certainly be an awesome dog for someone that is active and looking for a devoted companion.
